Review: AceJet Spinner Bowie
When first picking up the AceJet Spinner Bowie throwing knife, two things immediately stand out. First, it sits comfortably and securely in the hand with a well-balanced weight, offering sufficient mass and length for successful throws, even from longer distances. Second, no expense has been spared on materials. The knife is made of high-quality spring steel which, while not stainless, is extremely durable. Any light surface rust that may occur can be easily removed.
The model features an attractive Bowie-style blade with an original spinning ring positioned at the center of the blade, ensuring that aesthetic considerations are not neglected either. For us sport throwers, this knife is very well suited for classic rotational throwing, performing equally well when thrown by the handle or by the blade. The cutting edge is, of course, blunt to prevent injuries, making this an almost perfectly designed piece of sporting equipment—particularly for professional throwers and competitive athletes.
There are two minor drawbacks. First, the leather washers on the sides of the handle are relatively thin and also somewhat loose. As a result, they are unlikely to withstand prolonged rough and intensive training. One may therefore consider removing them entirely and replacing them with tape. Second, due to its fairly high (though absolutely justified in terms of quality) price of €108 per knife, this model is not necessarily the first choice for complete beginners who are still unsure whether they wish to pursue this sport long-term.
Overall score: 9.5 out of 10 points.
